As your representative, my top priority is making sure you have the information, resources, and support needed to strengthen our communities. That’s why I’m launching a new town hall series, Building Stronger Communities: Unlocking Resources Together. The first event will take place on Thursday, Feb. 6, at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. Registration and a meet-and-greet start at 5:30 p.m., with the town hall running from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
This series is about more than just discussion—it’s about action. I’m bringing together local, state, and federal officials so you can hear directly from the decision-makers responsible for critical issues like road repairs, flooding, and emergency response.
“Our goal is to foster open dialogue, build stronger communities, and ensure constituents have direct access to the resources they need.”
This first meeting will focus on flooding, road closures, and the impact of extreme weather. We’ll have representatives from SCDOT, the SC Department of Environmental Services Dam Safety Program, the SC Office of Regulatory Staff, and FEMA to provide updates and take your questions. Additionally, county officials and emergency services personnel from Calhoun, Orangeburg, and Lexington Counties will be on hand to discuss ongoing recovery efforts and future preparedness.
I want to hear from you, and I want to make sure the right people are in the room to provide answers. If you have concerns, this is your chance to be heard.
To sign up or get more details, reach out to my Legislative Aide, Ms. Laurie Walden, at (803) 212-6945 or email me at jerrygovan@schouse.gov.
Let’s come together, unlock resources, and build a stronger community—one conversation at a time. I hope to see you there!
