Honoring the Legacy of Samuel Isaiah “Ike” Holman

February 26, 2025

Black History Month is a time to reflect on those whose sacrifices and service have shaped our communities. At the Ujima Group Black History program at the Calhoun County Museum & Cultural Center, I had the privilege of recognizing Samuel Isaiah “Ike” Holman—an unsung hero whose quiet leadership made a lasting impact.

Holman’s dedication helped open doors for leaders like myself and Congressman Clyburn, ensuring progress for future generations. His work reminds us that true leadership isn’t always in the spotlight—it’s in the everyday commitment to uplifting others.

As we celebrate Black history, we must continue to acknowledge those who have laid the foundation for where we stand today. Their legacy is our responsibility to carry forward. Let’s keep building on the path they paved.
